Copan Wildlife Area is located on the Little Caney River, 3 miles of which bisects the area. The 5000 acre Copan Reservoir, located in Oklahoma, is a flood control project controlled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The river provides fishing opportunity and the adjacent area is 1200 acres of timber, 600 acres of grassland, 300 acres of cropland with the remaining acres in mixed habitat. Small borrow areas, created during levee constructions, provide some waterfowl habitat during wet periods.
