Designed to give visitors a better understanding and appreciation for the natural communities in Kansas. While visiting the Nature Center, you will have the opportunity to see live animal exhibits featuring native animals like snakes, frogs, prairie dogs, and birds. Spectacular views featuring the prairies, marshes, woodlands, and lakes of Kansas will help you experience our great diversity. You will also have the opportunity to see and touch many native animal furs, print your own animal tracks, and discover mystery items hidden in our drawers. Outside exhibits include our backyard habitat demonstration area, the birds of prey, and our seasonal (June-Oct.) butterfly house and garden. Several nature trails may be hiked and you may also visit the state's only warm-water intensive culture fish hatchery. The Nature Center provides guided tours of the fish hatchery at 1 pm on Saturdays and Sunday throughout the summer and other times by appointment. Naturalist programs are available for youth groups, school groups, 4-H, Scouts, and other interested parties. Call for more information or to schedule a naturalist program.
