Waterfall Trail – (.6 mile) The trailhead is located behind the man-made pond and waterfall located next to the State Park Office. The walk leads you through woodland and prairie habitats. The trail itself is a natural crossing for a variety of wildlife including white-tailed deer, wild turkey, ring-necked pheasant, and bobcat. This trail is also used for the annual Monster Myths by Moonlight event, which is held just before Halloween each October. Everyone is encouraged to dress up, and come and enjoy the hayrack rides, costumes, treats, and short wildlife educational programs that are set up along the trail. The programs cover some of Kansas’ spookier native wildlife and help dispel some of the myths about these animals. Many of the stations use live animals in the programming. Eagle Ridge
Equestrian Trail – (6 miles) The trailhead is located in the Sunset Ridge Day Use area. Hitching posts are located in the parking lot near the trailhead. Primitive campsites and a water supply will be established in the future. Look for a longer trail in the future also. Riders must stay on the trail.
Crystal Trail – (short loop 1.2 miles, long loop 2.2 miles) The trailhead is located on the east side of the road leading to the Walnut Grove Campground. You will discover a crystal quarry on the short loop revealing small geode rocks. Bald eagles have been known to winter near the trail’s water-edged areas. Viewing is excellent November through March where the trail meets the lake.
Wildlife Viewing Tower – Built in 1995 through funding from the Milford Friends Group, this two-story tower provides excellent opportunities for capturing a glimpse of wildlife. Best times to use the site are near dusk and dawn when most animals are active. White tail deer can often be found grazing in the adjacent crop field. Bring your binoculars
