Putnam County Spelling Bee

The one-act musical comedy, which earned six Tony Award nominations, winning two, including Best Book, is a middle school where six quirky adolescents compete in a spelling bee under the supervision of three quirkier adults. At each performance, a few audience members are recruited to see whether they are smarter — or at least spell better — than a fifth-grader. "Putnam County Spelling Bee" will be staged Feb. 19 through March 7 at the Helen Hocker Theater in Gage Park. Tickets will go on sale Feb. 1. Call for ticket prices and show times.
